Ijaw Youth Council President Inspires Students On The Value Of Education And Leadership
The President of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide, Sir Jonathan Lokpobiri Snr, has charged students to embrace education, passion, and discipline as vital tools for personal success and the advancement of the Ijaw Nation.
Sir Lokpobiri gave the charge while receiving a group of students who visited his office on a familiarization tour of the Council’s leadership. Extending a warm welcome to the delegation, he emphasized that education remains priceless in today’s world and should never be taken lightly. He reminded the students that many are denied such opportunities, urging them to maximize theirs for personal growth and communal development.
Highlighting the pivotal role of young people in shaping the future, the IYC President stressed that the unity, prosperity, and progress of the Ijaw Nation depend on the readiness of its youths to rise to the challenge of leadership, innovation, and accountability. He encouraged the students to look beyond present limitations—economic, social, or environmental—and envision greater possibilities, reminding them that many great leaders began with very little but achieved much through vision and perseverance.
Sir Lokpobiri further charged the students to embrace passion as a driving force for success, noting that success is intentional, not accidental. He underscored the importance of setting clear goals, staying focused, and cultivating the discipline required to achieve them. Growth, he said, is a lifelong process of learning, unlearning, and evolving—strengthened when passion is combined with education and purpose.
In his closing remarks, the IYC President offered heartfelt best wishes to the students, whom he fondly described as his younger brothers and sisters. Representing diverse clans and communities across Ijaw land, their presence, he noted, symbolizes hope and unity. He encouraged them to return as ambassadors of change, armed with knowledge, vision, and compassion.
“The Ijaw Nation we all desire is possible if you dare to believe, to strive, and to lead,” he concluded.
