The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide, under the visionary and dynamic leadership of Sir Jonathan Lokpobiri Snr, 9th President of the revered Council, has entered a transformative era defined by excellence, transparency, unity, and purposeful governance.

Since assuming office, Sir Jonathan Lokpobiri Snr has successfully revitalized the IYC, restoring confidence and rekindling hope among Ijaw youths across the Niger Delta and beyond. His leadership has marked a clear departure from past challenges, re-establishing the Council as a credible, inclusive, and people-driven institution.

Within a short span of two years, the President’s administration has achieved remarkable milestones that have repositioned the IYC as a respected and formidable youth body. Notably, members who had previously disengaged from Council activities due to the shortcomings of former leaderships have returned, a clear testament to the credibility, sincerity, and renewed trust inspired by the current administration.

One of the most significant achievements of this tenure is the successful amendment and adoption of a new IYC Constitution during the recent National Convention. This historic feat, which eluded several past administrations despite repeated efforts, represents a major institutional breakthrough. The new constitution strengthens internal governance structures, promotes accountability and inclusiveness, and provides a solid framework for sustainable growth and development of the Council.

Beyond policy and institutional reforms, the administration has demonstrated a firm commitment to tangible development. The construction of the IYC National Secretariat, a long-standing aspiration of the Council, is currently underway. This landmark project, promised during the President’s campaign, underscores his dedication to fulfilling commitments and strengthening the institutional foundation of the IYC.

The National Secretariat, once completed, will serve as the permanent administrative hub of the Council, enhancing coordination, record-keeping, operational efficiency, and organizational identity. It stands as a powerful symbol of the administration’s focus on legacy building and institutional development.

As these foundations are being laid both physically and structurally the Ijaw nation looks forward with renewed optimism. Under the leadership of Sir Jonathan Lokpobiri Snr, the Ijaw Youth Council Worldwide has regained its dignity, relevance, and purpose, emerging once again as a strong platform for advocacy, unity, and development among Ijaw youths.

The current administration remains committed to deepening engagement, promoting good governance, and advancing the collective aspirations of the Ijaw people.
