The National President of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide, Sir Jonathan Lokpobiri Snr, who also chairs the Niger Delta Ethnic Nationalities Youth Leaders Forum, attended the Urhobo Progress Union Youth Wing’s 2nd Ighelle World Conference. The event, themed “Igniting The Urhobo Spirit: Youth as Custodians and Catalyst of Change,” was held at the Ultra-Modern Urhobo Cultural Centre in Uvwiamuge-Agbarho, Delta State.

Sir Lokpobiri’s participation was in solidarity with Activist Blessed Oghenero Ughere, President of the Urhobo Progress Union Youth Wing and a member of the Niger Delta Ethnic Nationalities Youth Leaders Forum. The conference featured a panel session with notable figures, including Akpowene Jude Kakpovbia, Dr. Charles Apoki, and Hon. Stella Okotete, among others. Atunyota Alleluya Akpobome (ALI BABA) delivered the keynote address, offering insights on the theme.

In his remarks, Sir Jonathan Lokpobiri emphasized the interconnectedness of the Ijaw and Urhobo ethnic nationalities, citing their shared region, culture, and environment. He stressed the importance of collaboration and partnership in building lasting legacies and resolving differences nonviolently. The IYC President urged Niger Delta youths to work together, noting that the Ijaw and Urhobo nations are one people bound by brotherhood.

The event drew prominent leaders, including the Governor of Delta State, represented by Sen. Destiny Emmanuel; Olorogun Barr. Ese Gam Owe, President General UPU Worldwide; Sen. Ede Dafinone, Senator Representing Delta Central; Chief Brodricks Arigbodi, Chairman of the Occasion and MC Gordons amongst others.
