Today, the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide unequivocally affirms that the Council is under purposeful, visionary, and institution-driven leadership in the person of Sir Jonathan Lokpobiri Snr., the 9th President of the IYC Worldwide. His administration has deliberately transcended rhetoric, placing the Council on a path defined by tangible legacy, functional governance structures, and institutions carefully designed to outlive any single tenure.

Under his stewardship, the IYC has recorded unprecedented infrastructural advancement, reflecting strategic planning, discipline, and continuity. Foremost among these achievements is the International Three-Storey Secretariat Complex, a historic landmark in the Council’s evolution. The project has advanced beyond the foundation stage and is currently at the decking stage of the second floor—clear evidence of steady, strategic, and irreversible progress toward a permanent global administrative headquarters for Ijaw youth.

In further demonstration of institutional foresight, the Training and Workshop Centre, conceived as a hub for capacity building, leadership development, and skills acquisition, has reached lintel level. Complementing this is the 2,500-seater Conference Centre, envisioned to host international conventions, high-level dialogues, and global engagements, now advanced to the damp-proof course (DPC) level—laying a firm foundation for global relevance and institutional pride.

Reflecting a holistic and people-centered approach to leadership, the administration has also commenced work on a Mini Sick-Bay, presently at DPC level. This initiative reinforces the President’s conviction that institutional growth must be matched with welfare consciousness, accessible health support systems, and social responsibility within the Council.
