The National Electoral Committee (ELECO) of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide has officially announced a change of venue for the forthcoming 2026 National Elective Convention, while reaffirming that the convention date remains Saturday, July 11, 2026.

According to an official statement issued by the National Electoral Committee, the adjustment is aimed at ensuring a smooth, well-coordinated, and successful convention for delegates and stakeholders from across the Ijaw nation.

New Convention Venues:
The convention activities will now take place as follows:
Non-Elective Convention
Venue: Newly Built Auditorium, IYC National Secretariat, beside Ijaw House, Sani Abacha Expressway, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State
Time: 7:00 a.m.
Election Proper
Venue: Dr. Gabriel Okara Cultural Centre (Bayelsa State Centre for Arts and Culture), Ovom, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State
Time: 9:00 a.m.

The National Electoral Committee emphasized that only the venue has changed, while the date of the convention remains Saturday, July 11, 2026.

The committee also urged all accredited delegates, contestants, observers, stakeholders, and members of the Ijaw nation to take note of the new venues and arrive early to ensure the timely commencement of proceedings.

Speaking on behalf of the committee, Dr. Charles German Ikimi, Chairman of the National Electoral Committee, reaffirmed ELECO’s commitment to conducting a transparent, peaceful, free, and credible electoral process that reflects the democratic aspirations of Ijaw youths worldwide.

The committee further wished all participants a safe journey to and from Yenagoa and called on everyone to conduct themselves peacefully throughout the convention.
