In a bid to promote peace and curb social vices in the Oporoma Clan of Bayelsa State, the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Oporoman Clan, under the leadership of Sir Monday-Bubou Biekuromo Simon presents its Maiden Inauguration of IYC Community Structures and Sensitization Program Against Drug Abuse, Cultism, Bunkering, Pipeline Vandalism and other social vices. The theme of the Program is “Save Our Environment, Culture and People”.
The event is scheduled to hold on Monday, 28th October 2024, at the Restoration Playground in Oporoma Community, with a starting time of 11am as the Public Relations Officer Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Bayelsa State, SN Daniel Howells Obah is billed to anchor as the guest speaker, while Sir Jonathan Lokpobiri Snr, President IYC Worldwide, as Special Guest Of Honour and Comr. Perekosufa Ineife , Chairman IYC Central Zone, as the Guest Of Honour.
The two faced programme is aimed at sensitizing the people of Oporoma Clan on the dangers of drug abuse, cultism, bunkering, pipeline vandalism, oil theft, raping, illegal logging and the need to shun all social vices that are detrimental to our environment, culture and people. The program is also christened to inaugurate the maiden leaderships of the all community IYC Structures in the Clan, in a bid to enhance mobilization, inclusivity, and promote the unity of purpose of the Ijaw Struggle.
Hence, the general public, all sons and daughters of Oporoma Clan, Vigilante, all youth groups in the clan, Student Unions, Women Groups, and Opinion leaders are hereby duely invited to participate. The IYC is calling on all stakeholders and concerned individuals to come out en masse to participate in the event, which promises to be informative and educative. The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) is a group that aims to promote the social, economic, and political development of the Ijaw people, and this program is part of their efforts towards achieving that goal.
