The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) National Electoral Committee has officially announced a shift in the timeline for the conduct of Zonal/Chapter congresses and submission of delegate lists ahead of the forthcoming National Elective Convention. According to the statement signed by Chairman Dr. Charles G. Ikimi and Secretary Comr. Micah A. Micah on May 23, 2026, the affirmation of delegate lists and submission to the National Electoral Committee will now run from 12th to 25th June, 2026.

The Committee has set 25th June, 2026 as the final deadline for all Zonal/Chapter Chairmen and Secretaries to submit their delegate lists. This will be followed by hearings and resolution of appeals or petitions concerning the lists from 26th to 29th June, 2026, with the Final Delegate List scheduled for publication on 30th June, 2026. All Zonal/Chapter Chairmen are required to provide a minimum of one week’s notice to the National Electoral Committee before their congress dates, enabling Committee members to attend and monitor the proceedings.
