IYC National ELECO Pays Courtesy Visit to Speaker, Bayelsa State House of Assembly
In its continued efforts at engaging critical stakeholders towards a free, fair and credible elections, the National Electoral Committee of the IYC, Worldwide 2026, paid a courtesy call on the Speaker of Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere on Thursday 11th June 2026, in his office at the State Assembly Complex, Yenagoa.
Briefing the Speaker on the schedule of activities for the upcoming election, the ELECO Chairman, an Associate Professor in the Federal University, Otuoke, Dr. Charles Ikimi informed the speaker that having concluded the screening of aspirants, the ELECO is set for the organization of Manifesto and Debate for aspirants on the 20th of June 2026 at the city of Port Harcourt (Eastern Zone) while the Election Proper shall hold on the 11th of July, 2026.
Responding, the Rt. Hon. Speaker of the Bayelsa State House, Chief Hon Abraham Ingobere commended the ELECO for the initiative of engaging on consultative meetings with stakeholders and advised them to be transparent and create an equal playing ground for all aspirants.
In attendance at the meeting was one of the elders of Council, Chief Ebi Waribigha, whom while speaking said, he has been following the activities of the ELECO and that he is very impressed with what the ELECO is doing. He concluded his remark by commending the ELECO Chairman for bringing the members of his team to see the Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly.
